If you’re a Web Designer, listening to and watching Podcasts are a great way of staying up-to-date and in touch with all the latest news and developments in the Website Design & Development community.

Since the iTunes Store launched its Podcasts category in June 2005, it has become the home for many web designer podcasts (including our very own). Their content usually varies from discussion on the latest web design news to web designer resources, giving listeners a new medium of brushing up on their HTML, CSS, PHP and even SEO Knowledge.

Being a Web Designer myself, I often listen to website design Podcasts and have compiled a list of what I feel are the strongest and best web design podcasts available online.

BOAGWORLD (iTunes Subscription Link)

podcast1

Boagworld is an audio podcast that probably any Web Designer or Web Developer who runs a website can probably relate too. Every week, the hosts discuss the in-and-outs and the experiences you gain by running a website, offering tips along the way that will probably help you in your everyday lifestyle as a Web Designer.

WEB AXE (iTunes Subscription Link)

podcast2

If you’re looking for techniques on how you can make your own website more accessible, or enjoy discussions about Web Development in general, including current technology happenings, then Web Axe is a fantastic podcast to check out.

CREATIVE EXPERT

podcast3

For those who appreciate all aspects of Design, including Graphic Design, Advert Design and of course, Web Design, then take a listen to Creative Expert, in which every episode consists of an interview with a Design Expert, who talk about themselves and their thoughts about the world of Web Design and Development. As of writing, Creative Expert Podcast is not available on iTunes but can be listened to via their Blog.

TWiT: THIS WEEK IN TECHNOLOGY (iTunes Subscription Link)

podcast4

Well-known technology expert, Leo Laporte, hosts a weekly podcast which discusses all things Technology-related. While not strictly aimed at Web Designers, if you are interested internet related technology news, such as Web 2.0 Applications, Web Development and Social Media, this podcast is well worth a listen.

CREARE VIDEO PODCAST (iTunes Subscription Link)

podcast5

If you weren’t already aware, here at Creare we also have our very own Video Podcast. Each week, Nick and James from the Creare Group offer useful tips, tricks and resources related to Web Design and Search Engine Optimisation (including Web Accessibility Tips).

Each video not only gives insights on how to improve your own HTML, CSS, PHP & SEO skills, but also discusses the latest internet-related news and events, such as the recent Microsoft & Yahoo Search deal. Check out their latest video on how to prioritize your websites content.

That’s all for now!

I’m a big fan of Boagworld. I like the format as I listen to it mainly on the train. It maybe sometimes meanders a bit too much – but I like the fact its not full on. Your video podcast sounds like it’d be worth a watch – so I’m going to check that out…

I actually heard of Boagworld through a client of mine, he is an avid podcast listener and while searching through iTunes, he subscribed to Boagworld so that during our next meeting, he could tell me about it. I think his exact words in our next meeting were: ‘Pete, my friend, I have the perfect podcast for you’.
