Website Design Using Supersized

Would you like to go large sir?

With the limits of traditional website design being slowly lifted due to advancements in web technologies and modern connectivity infrastructure, every now and then it’s nice to be able to try something that’s little bit different.

A technique that I see crop up more and more often on some of the tops sites, is the full screen, resizable background image, which as the name suggests, adjusts to seamlessly fit the resolution at which your website is being viewed by the end user.

Supersized Full screen Slideshow Plug-in

Using the excellent ‘Supersized’ JQuery plug-in we can take advantage of this easy to use idea and even take things a little further with fully customisable options.  Supersized is compatible with all modern browsers and what’s great, is that this baby will be viewable on your iPhone and iPad.

This superb plug in is ideal for an animated website site background achieving a similar effect to that of the Samsung homepage, or a great way of displaying your portfolio or photos with the ultimate impact.

Supersized utilises the JQuery library, and is customisable to make easy work, even for the novice amongst us.

Some of the great customisable options include…

  • Starting width & height dimensions
  • Vertical Centring
  • Slideshow Option
  • Navigation Options
  • Slide Transitions including slides and fades.
  • Slide Captions
  • Slide Counter
  • Time interval
