For Web Designers, the Apple iPhone is increasingly becoming an important influence in the web design industry. Since it’s launch back in June 2007, 40% of all mobile internet users now browse online using an Apple iPhone.

One of the great features of the Apple iPhone is its unique application store. In addition to offering Games, Social Media Tools and Business Tools, there is also a number of fantastic website design related applications.

I’ve experimented with a lot of these applications and not only do they effectively allow me to work as a Web Designer wherever I am, their innovative features have helped inspire and build upon my web design practice. Below, is a collection of my recommended iPhone Applications for Web Designers.

MyPantoneMyPantone (iTunes Store Link)

MyPantone is an innovative portable colour library that is essential for all aspiring Web Designers. Take a photo of any object and MyPantone will match it to the nearest colour in its library. MyPantone can then email you the HTML Colour Code attached with a .CSE file and even a HTML example of the colour.

Recommended recently in my Essential Online Tools for Web Designers blog post, WhatTheFont is now available for the iPhone. Now from anywhere, you can take a photo and the application will determine what font(s) are being used within the image, it’s an amazing tool that works surprisingly well.

EgoEgo (iTunes Store Link)

Ego is a simple, yet very effective application that enables you to keep track of any websites statistics while on the go. If you’d like the latest information on a websites Google Analytics, Twitter Followers Count and Feedburner/RSS Subscribers, Ego offers all of this information in a easy-to use interface.

Essentially a mobile FTP client, FTP On the Go allows you to view, edit, download and upload files on your FTP Server regardless of where you are. Handy if you need to make a quick alteration to a website.
