Web Design tweaks for Christmas

Posted on Thursday 3rd Dec 2009 by James Bavington 4 Comments

In this week’s web design blog, Nick and James take a festive spin on web design and look at how you can tweak your web design to encourage those extra sales/enquiries in the run up to Christmas. The video blog starts with a bit of news, including Creare’s participation in Lutterworth’s Great Santa Fun Run.

Nick and James then look at some online examples of websites that have altered their designs temporarily to reflect the Christmas season. The video concludes by answering a question from business student Dan, who asks what software our company uses to build websites in.

Another pretty good example, although minimalistic, is the official NEXT website.

By improving their background graphic subtly and updating their above-the-fold area to target Christmas gift buyers, it’s very effective.

Good idea, the Cadburys homepage has been decorated this Christmas http://www.cadbury.co.uk . I was shocked to find the Coca Cola main website was not full of Christmas Cheer. http://www.thecoca-colacompany.com/heritage/cokelore_santa.html I did come across this bit of info on the Coca Cola Santa I thought was interesting!

Very nice blog, I noticed Titleist have a nice Christmas theme on their website. http://www.titleist.com/ Those little Christmas Golf Balls are cool, looks like the local school drew on them, nice little touch.
